Set amidst Te Arai’s sand dunes, this holiday retreat features rammed earth walls, seamless internal and external concrete floors, and a post-tensioned roof cantilevering beyond the line of glazing.

Large sliding doors provide expansive views of the Pacific Ocean across a 25-metre swimming pool, while on the lower floor, tapered rammed earth retaining walls carve the sand, creating views and sheltered terraces.

The design has a timeless quality, reminiscent of a ruin gradually revealed by shifting sands.
