Jervois Road is a highly crafted and bespoke apartment building located in the waterside enclave of Herne Bay, Auckland.
To the street-facing elevation, a distinct undulating and perforated metal screen spans four levels of apartments and offers a scaled interpretation of the bay window motif common to many surrounding houses.
The metal veil distinguishes the public and private worlds and clearly communicates the building’s dual typologies of the ground floor commercial and residential above.
From the rear elevation, the site has extensive views of the Waitematā Harbour and fronts a burgeoning retail environment on the street.
Massing and planning respond to these conditions with a strong yet simple geometric volume that challenges the site’s development regulations while ensuring a graceful building envelope.
